Motorbikes

A motorbike is defined as a two wheeled powered vehicle that stays upright while travelling at speeds. Typically a motorbike is ridden by one or two people. The motorbike was invented in Germany by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in 1885 and it was called the "riding car" or the Reitwagen. This invention developed and the motorbike today is a very fast and powerful vehicle that required a lot of skill and bravery to ride it. There are many variations of the motorbike that range from the scooter, to the road bike, to the dirt bike, to the high performance sports bike. All types have their own variations and performances. There are many well known names in the motorbike industry. For a cruiser road bike a classic example is the Harley, very popular in the USA. The most common power bike manufacturers are Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki and BMW. Each manufacturer produces ranges of motorbikes with different engine sizes and features adding to the motorbikes performance levels. When riding a motorbike protection is needed to make sure in the even of a motorbike accident the rider or passenger sustain limited damage. It is a legal requirement that a motorbike rider wears a crash helmet, which will protect the head and the neck in the event of ana accident. Motorbike riders also opt for leather suits or jackets that have built in knee and elbow protection. A motorbike suit also keeps the cold wind off the riders when travelling at high speeds.
